Ingalls state trapshooting champion
CEDAR FALLS – Algona High School’s Evan Ingalls is a state champion.
Sunday in Cedar Falls, Ingalls and 43 other members of the trapshooting teams from Algona and Bishop Garrigan high schools participated in the Iowa High School State Trapshoot Championship. Each shooter shot 200 rounds – 100 in the morning and 100 in the afternoon.
Ingalls connected on 99 of his 100 shots in the morning and a perfect 100 of 100 in the afternoon for a score of 199, earning him a state title. Along with a first place medal and shell pouch, Ingalls won a Browning BT99 Trap Shotgun.
Ingalls is no stranger to being near the top of the competition. In 2016, he took second place with a 199 and in 2017 he was third with a 198. He is the first state champion from Algona.
