Humboldt ends Bulldog girls’ NCC run
Humboldt ended the Algona Bulldog girls’ track squad’s reign as the North Central Conference champions in the conference meet held in Iowa Falls on Thursday, May 4.
The purple-and-gold scored 181.3 points to top the Bulldogs’ total of 158.3. The red-and-black had won the conference the past seven years while it was the Wildcats first league crown in 28 years.
Algona placed first in three events during the evening with the only individual title going to senior Janna Julius in the long jump with her leap of 15’ 10½”.
Relays taking first for the red-and-black were the 4 x 200-meter relay unit of Sam Hood, Amanda Hentges, Abby Groen and Abbey Holmes in 1:49.84 along with the 4 x 100-meter relay quartet of Hood, Julius, Groen and Hentges with a time of 51.60.
