Aerial game leads BGHS past Poky
Bishop Garrigan scored three touchdowns in the final 1:39 of the first half and went onto a 26-12 season-opening non-district football win over the Pocahontas Indians in a contest played at Pocahontas on Friday, Aug. 25.
Brad Capesius threw for four first half touchdown passes and a green Golden Bear defense pitched a shutout in the final 24 minutes to earn its first victory of the year.
The game started slowly as the visitors could not do anything on their first two possessions and the Indians went three-and-out on their opening drive of the year.
Pocahontas Area dented the scoreboard first as the home team marched 49 yards in nine plays as Jamison Frerk went the final seven yards for the score. The PAT kick try went wide left as the red-and-white led 6-0 with 2:49 remaining in the opening frame.
