Pray without ceasing, even for your governmental leaders

... It is at this point in your life that you ought to remember that your duty as a Christian citizen does not end on election day, and that neither does your duty as a Christian citizen end when your favorite candidate is not in authority. 

As Christians we are called to obey, support and pray for our earthly authorities – all of our earthly authorities. If it is difficult for you to pray faithful words from your heart concerning the people in authority over you (say, for instance, if you are praying for a candidate you didn’t vote for), you might consider making use of prayers that have been written for you. 

The following are several examples of Christian prayers for our earthly authorities taken from our church’s hymnal, Lutheran Service Book, that might aid you in praying for our president and other authorities, whoever those authorities may be. ...
