Sandra Ann Goodman, 61, North Mankato, Minn., passed away Jan. 18, 2019, at her home.

Norma Jean Larson, age 82 of Algona, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at Kossuth Regional Health Center, Algona. Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. at Grace Church, Algona, with the Rev. Patrick Mostek officiating. Burial was in Blossom Hill Cemetery in Badger. Visitation was Thursday, Jan.17 from noon until the time of service at Grace Church.

Joseph John Straub, Sr., of Whittemore passed away Jan. 17, 2019, in his home surrounded by his children. He lived a joyous life for 89 years.

David L. Berkland passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019. Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 29, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Fairville, with the Rev. Duane Miesner and the Rev. Bob Riggert officiating.
Visitation was Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Martin-Mattice Funeral Home, Emmetsburg. Internment was in St. Luke’s Cemetery, Fairville.

A funeral mass for Cecilia “Sally” Koppen was celebrated Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Whittemore, with Father Ed Girres presiding. Burial was in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.

Kevin E. Myers was the fourth child born to Wayne and Rozina Myers. He was born Aug. 4, 1962. Kevin perished in Uvalde, Texas, on Jan. 9, 2019, after a long, courageous battle with congestive heart failure.

Donald Gerdis, age 82 of Algona, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona.
Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Algona. Burial was in the Buffalo Township Cemetery in Titonka. Visitation was Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Lentz Funeral Home, Algona.

Della Florence Metzger, the daughter of Christian and Lena (Nester) Kellenberger, was born May 16, 1922, at Rock Rapids. She grew up and attended country school near Lester.
She married Silas Wilmer Metzger on Aug. 31, 1946. They lived and farmed in the West Bend and Whittemore areas, then they retired to a home in Whittemore and later moved to the retirement apartments in West Bend. Della entered the West Bend Care Facility in 2016.

A funeral service for Ruth Heller, 90 of Spirit Lake, was held Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at Grace Lutheran Church, Spirit Lake. Interment was at Memory Gardens, Spirit Lake.
Ruth Lavonne Heller, the daughter of Bert and Beatrice (Dixon) Baldwin, was born Jan. 3, 1928, in Algona. After graduating from Algona High School in 1945, she taught rural school for two years.

Nancy Lea Kolp Erickson of Cedar Rapids passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, from complications of posterior cortical atrophy (PCA), a rare, and especially virulent form of Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born Jan. 12, 1954, to Nyda Lea Haas Kolp and James Rush Kolp Nancy grew up in Algona, graduated from Algona High School and attended Drake University in Des Moines, where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education.

Heidi Lynn Nemmers Beisch, 47, Fort Dodge, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2018. Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home, Fort Dodge, with the Rev. Patrick Behm officiating. Burial was in Corpus Christi Cemetery, Fort Dodge.
Heidi is survived by her son Kyle Beisch; daughter Morgan Beisch; parents Judy and Dave Nemmers of Algona; sister Kristin (Travis) Uhlenhopp; nieces Caitlyn and Madison; and several aunts uncles, cousins and special friends.

A memorial service in memory of Darrel Wubben was held Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at 1 p.m. at the Titonka United Methodist Church.
Darrel Dean Wubben was born Dec. 27, 1940, in German Valley, Iowa. He was the son of Jerry and Vivian Wubben. He grew up in the Titonka area and graduated from Titonka High School.
Darrel passed after a 10-month battle with leukemia on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at the age of 78.

Alice May, 92 of Algona, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019. A mass of Christian burial was held Thursday, Jan. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona with the Rev. Ed Girres celebrating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Algona.

Funeral services for Phyliss Zwiefel were celebrated Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Titonka United Methodist Church with the Rev. Todd Hartsock officiating. Burial was in the Buffalo Township Cemetery.
Phyliss Lorraine Zwiefel was born Dec. 30, 1925, in Hayfield, the daughter of Sabo and Anna (Spieker) Hillenga. She attended school in Hayfield and later began working as a housekeeper.

A memorial service for Karl Kiilsholm, age 94 of Spirit Lake, will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, 201,9 at 10:30 a.m. at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Interment will be at the Wesley Evergreen Cemetery. Following the burial, there will be a Celebration of Life gathering at 3 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church Life Center in Algona.
