Troy Micheal Canaday

Troy Micheal Canaday, age 53, passed on July 31, at 11 a.m., at his home in West Columbia, S.C. with all his family by his side. 
Troy fought Esophageal Cancer for 17 months, convinced he could beat it, but it was the toughest fight of his life. 
Troy was born Dec. 2, 1967 in Algona, to Russ Canaday and Sharon Fagan. Two and a half years later they had his sister Tammy. 

Margaret Reinhard

Margaret died peacefully on Aug. 18, with her daughter Megan by her side, after a long battle with Alzheimers disease.
Margaret was born on March 15, 1949 in Forest City, to James Utt and Helen Utt (Psotka). She grew up in Algona, Iowa and graduated from Algona High School in 1967. She had many dear friends from high school that she kept in touch with. Margaret then went on to Mankato State University. 

Minnie Jean Walker

 Minnie Jean (Winter) Walker, age 90, of Algona died, surrounded by her family, on Aug.  21, 2021, at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Funeral services were held  Aug. 24, at First Presbyterian Church with burial at Riverview Cemetery in Algona. Minnie’s service can be viewed on the Lentz Funeral Home Facebook page.

Donald Louis Moore

Donald Louis Moore, age 81, of Appleton, passed away on Aug.  15, 2021. Donald was born in Algona, to Donald Moore and Maxine Elmore. After high school he enlisted in the Army Reserves, and married Nancy Squier on Nov. 7, 1965.

    Eleanor Kohlhaas, age 96, of Algona passed away on Aug. 18, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Algona. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Divine Mercy Catholic Parish - St. Joseph in St. Joseph. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Wednesday at the Divine Mercy Catholic Parish - St. Joseph in St. Joseph.

Funeral services for Tracy Elliott, 67, of Bancroft, were held on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Bancroft with Pastor Walter Reemtsma presiding. David John Weiland, 68, of Algona, formerly of Corwith and Wesley, passed away Aug. 22, 2021 at home. Nicholas Richard Arend

Nicholas Richard Arend, the son of Richard “Dick” and Annette (Simpson) Arend was born in Algona, on July 29, 1954. He was raised on the family farm near Whittemore. He attended Whittemore Elementary School and graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School in 1972. He then went on to NIACC in Mason City, and graduated in 1974.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 23, 2021, at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish - St. Cecelia Church with Fr. Edward Girres officiating. Burial was held at the St. Margaret’s Catholic Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Visitation was held from 3-5 p.m. on Aug. 22, at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Algona.

Lyle O. Hansen

Lyle Otto Hansen, born Dec. 4, 1936, the son of Adolph Hansen and Marcile (Hanson) Hansen passed peacefully in his sleep Aug. 15, 2021, at age 84 years.
Lyle graduated from Fenton High School in 1954 and then attended Iowa Lakes Community College for Education.  Lyle returned home to farm and later began as assistant mail carrier, progressing to full time rural mail carrier serving for 36 years. He retired from USPS on Nov. 3, 1995.
