Funeral services for Delbert Wichtendahl, 90, of Whittemore, were held at 11 a.m. May 16, 2022, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Whittemore. Burial took place at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Whittemore following the funeral service. Military rites were conducted by Whittemore American Legion Seely-Walsh Post # 425.

Dorothy (Hildreth) Matthiesen, age 98, of Indianola, died peacefully Feb. 3, 2022, at The Village retirement community of Indianola.

Eugene “Gene” Edward Dornbier was born Dec. 31, 1931, in Wesley, the son of Clarence and Elizabeth (Miller) Dornbier. He grew up in Wesley attending country school through sixth grade, St. Joseph Catholic School through eighth, and graduated from Wesley High School. After high school, he farmed with his dad until 1971 when he went to work for the Wesley Co-Op retiring in 1996.

Gary Lee Angle of Mission Viejo, Cali., passed away on April 7, 2022, at age 79. Gary was born in Algona in 1942. We are eternally grateful for his ability to connect with people, his ubiquitous positive attitude, and how he made everyone feel welcome in our home.

Timothy Leonard Claude was born to John Leonard and Darlene Lethcoe Claude in Sioux City on March 26, 1947. He passed away peacefully at his home in Vernon, Ariz. on Feb. 23, 2022.

Theodore (Ted) Southgate Herbst passed peacefully on December 15, 2021, at the age of 94.  Ted was born Oct. 24, 1927, in Cresco Township (Algona), to Theodore Tennant and Olive Southgate Herbst.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret Lacy Herbst, and daughters Lori (Bob) Dominiczak and Teri (John) Bill, grandchildren Jacob (Elaine) and Sara Bill, and great-grandchildren Fynn and Henry Bill and many nieces and nephews.

Jimmy Janssen, age 49, of Wayland, passed away on April 21, 2022, at his home in Wayland. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Thursday at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka. August 2, 1956 - March 30, 2022

Debbi Jean (Ritchey) Vaske, 65, died peacefully on March 30, 2022, under the care of hospice after a lengthy battle with cancer. Debbi was born in Mason City to Actton Ritchey and Marcella (Braun) Ritchey of Northwood. 

Debbi graduated from Northwood Kensett High School. Per Debbi’s wishes her body has been cremated and the family will hold a memorial service at a later date.

Visitation will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Swea City on April 28, 2022, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral service will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Swea City, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022. Pastor Todd Hartsock will be officiating. Harvey will be  laid to rest at Harrison Township Cemetery, rural Swea City.
