Clarine "Cookie" Leeck, age 81 of Algona, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Thomas Cowell officiating. Burial took place at East Lawn Cemetery in Algona. Visitation was held on Monday from, 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona.
Alice Mae Austin, the daughter of Clarence and Anna (Skilbred) Hanna, was born Oct. 8, 1938 in Forest City. Alice grew up in rural Woden and graduated from Woden High School. After graduating from Woden, She furthered her education and became a beautician. She worked as Dietary Supervisor and a beautician for the Heritage Nursing Home in Bancroft for 25 years.

Visitation was held from, 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 9 at the Ewing Funeral Home in Belmond. Celebration of his life was at 2 p.m. in the Dows Community Center with Pastor Mark Peterson from Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating.
ST JOE — Beatrice Carmen Geishecker died peacefully at Westhaven Community in Boone, Iowa, on Feb. 28, 2018. She had lived there for four years. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe. Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation was from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home is assisting the family.

She died Feb. 21, 2018, at the West Bend Health and Rehab Center.

Ellen “Jean” (Penton) Simons was born in Algona on Nov. 14, 1932, the daughter of Chester Arthur Penton and Mary Ellen Carroll Penton. Jean grew up in the St. Benedict area. She graduated from Lu Verne High School in 1950.
A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at United Methodist Church, Corwith. Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at the Corwith Community Center.
