Victoria Ferguson, 65 of Burt, passed away March 14, 2019, at Mercy West in West Des Moines. Funeral services are Wednesday, March 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Lentz Funeral Home in Burt. Burial is in Burt Township Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lentz Funeral Home in Burt.
She was born Sept. 26, 1953, in Waterloo to her dear mother Wanda and Howard Russell. Vickie worked at Snap-on Tools in Algona from 1973 to 2009, when she retired after 36 years of hard work. She had a passion for helping others, always helping out in any way she could. Vickie always knew what to say to make everything okay; a true giver she was. She loved spending time with friends, but most importantly her family.
Vickie loved to garden and took care of the most beautiful of flowers (Red roses were her favorite). She had a passion for crafting and loved gifting her very heartfelt handcrafted items to family and friends. After spending many years together, she married the love of her life, John Ferguson, on May 21, 1983. They were married for nearly 36 years. On Jan. 3, 1981, her daughter April May Ferguson was born. She had a son, John Henry Ferguson, on Aug. 22, 1988. She always loved when Johnny came home to visit and spend quality time with her.
Her daughter April married in August of 2001. Vickie welcomed her son-in-law Josh Karels. She loved being a Me-maw to her two beautiful grandchildren, Kinley May, 8, and Kendyl Rae Karels, 6. They meant so much to her. Vickie had a passion for animals and was always there to help an animal in need of love. Her dog Kujo meant the world to her, as well as all of her cats (Smokey, Snowball, Baby and Felix).
Vickie enjoyed going for rides on her golf cart around town, especially for Burt Day, and hitting up every garage sale in town with John, April and Johnny. She was the kindest person you have ever met, and she will forever live in our hearts.
Preceding her in death was her mother Wanda, father Howard, sister (in-infancy) Candie, and brothers Bruce and Steve Russell.
She is survived by her beloved husband John, Burt; daughter April and Josh; granddaughters Kinley and Kendyl Karels, Burt; son Johnny Ferguson, West Des Moines; brother Danny and his wife Linda Russell, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; sister Penny and her husband Dana Connors, Humboldt; sister Linda and husband Mike Farrell, Vincent; brother Duane Russell, Fort Dodge; and many cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply.
