Terry Buscher, 62 of Algona, passed away on March 10, 2019, at Kossuth Regional Health Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 14, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Algona, and burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Algona. Visitation was 4-7 p.m., Wednesday at St. Cecelia Catholic Church with a scripture service at 7 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary.
Terry Layne Buscher, the son of Richard and Virginia (Rahe) Buscher, was born Sept. 15, 1956, in Algona. Terry graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School in 1974. After graduation, Terry attended Iowa Central Community College for two years, earning a degree in business management. On April 12, 1980, Terry was united in marriage to Liz Duck in Silvis, Ill. The couple made their home in Algona, where Terry owned and operated Buscher Bros.
Terry was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, serving as a eucharistic minister. He was also a third degree knight, serving as Grand Knight and Columbia Hall officer. Terry always put his family first, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed the beauty of sunrises, traveling, golfing and keeping his vehicles clean.
Left to cherish Terry’s memory are his wife of 38 years, Liz of Algona; children, Matt Buscher, Mindy (Andy) Laubenthal and Mitch (Abbie) Buscher all of Algona; three grandchildren, Aliyah Buscher and Kaya and Layne Laubenthal; mother, Virginia Buscher, Algona; and siblings, Mark (Laurie) Buscher, Blue Springs, Mo.; Doug (Chris) Buscher, Wake Forest, N.C.; Dan (Mary) Buscher, West Des Moines; Conni (Chris) Thoms, Round Rock, Texas; and Jan Buscher (fiancé James Riggsby), Lakewood, Colo.
His infant daughter, Michelle Marie, and father, Dick Buscher, precede him in death.
Memorials may be directed towards Bishop Garrigan High School in honor of Terry. The Lentz Funeral Home of Algona is serving the family.
