Russell Wallace Kiley joined his Lord and Savior on Nov. 19, 2017, at the age of 86. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at 2 p.m., at Grace Church in Algona. Burial took place at East Lawn Cemetery in Algona. The Wesley American Legion conducted military rites. Visitation was held on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, from 4-6 p.m., at Grace Church in Algona.
He was born on Feb. 5, 1931, at Kanawha, son of Lee and Geneva (Schnebly) Kiley. Following graduation at Titonka High School in 1950, Russell entered the U.S. Army. He was a truck driver in an artillery unit, hauling ammunition. After his honorable discharge in 1952, Russell worked in construction and a lawn mower factory.
In 1956, he married Carol Johnson Nissen. That marriage ended in divorce.
Russell farmed and raised sheep most of his life, plus working for 17 years at Armour Food, canning hams.
On June 21, 1986, Russell married Lenora (Bebo) Eisenman. They enjoyed working together in their large flower and vegetable gardens. Russell loved spending time with his grandchildren when they came to the farm for visits.
Russell was a member of Grace Church and a lifetime member of the Wesley American Legion.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, son Carl, brothers Charles, Robert and Larry and great grandson Noah Kiley.
He is survived by his wife, Lenora of Algona; sons, John (Julie) Kiley of Woodward, Bill (Debbie) Kiley of Kalispell, Mont., Jim Kiley of Cumming, Ga. and Tom (Nancy) Kiley of Perry; step daughters, Julie (Ed) Duran of Cedar Rapids, Pam (Al) Winter of Iowa Falls and Monica (Jerry) Downing of Clarion; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and sister, Betty.
