July 24, 1935 — Feb. 22, 2017
Patricia Lea Maahs came into this world on July 24th, 1935. She was the daughter of Arthur and Verna Obrecht who raised and educated her in Algona. In 1954, she was joined in marriage to Herbert Hensley and to this marriage she became the mother to three children, Kevin, Kimberly and Bruce. Everyone that knew Col. Pat either remember her for her loveable sassy-spitfire attitude or remembers that she could never leave a room without telling one of her infamous jokes. She was a lady that enjoyed sorting through her jewelry and collectibles and never missed a chance to attend a flea market. She was a beautiful writer and with this talent came many poems. Her love for animals brought much joy to her life.
Patricia died on Feb. 22, 2017, at Kossuth Regional Health Center and graciously donated her body to Science at Des Moines University and a celebration of her life will be held at a later time.
Left to reminisce and continue Patricia’s memory is her children, Kevin (Linda) Hensley from Algona, Kimberly Hensley from Galway, N.Y., and Bruce (Julie) Hensley from Clarksville, Tenn. A sister, Tina Obrecht from Denver and six grandchildren, Chris, Nathan, Jennifer, Meredith, Mathias, Nicolette and Mikayla.
