Maureen Lentsch

A funeral Mass for Maureen Lentsch was held Tuesday, June 9, at St. Cecelia Catholic Church with Father Sunny Dominic and the Rev. William Black officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Algona.

Maureen Kay Lentsch died on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at the age of 72 at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona, Iowa. Maureen Lentsch was born in Algona, Iowa, on Dec. 30, 1947, to John A. and Rosina J. (Thilges) Lentsch. She attended St. Cecelia Academy and graduated from Garrigan High School in 1966. She went to LaJames College in Mason City, Iowa, to become a beautician.

Maureen worked as a hairstylist at Harold’s Hair Design in Humboldt, Iowa. She then worked at the Navy Federal Credit Union in the Washington, D.C., area. After returning to the Midwest, she moved to Eagan, Minn. There, she worked in the insurance industry as an administrative assistant. She returned to Algona in 2007 to assist family members as a caregiver.

Maureen was a caring person who enjoyed taking a personal interest in the people she met. She had numerous medical problems but never complained about them. She enjoyed getting to know her health care team members on a personal level. She enjoyed family get-togethers at the holidays and especially enjoyed playing cards with her nephews. Maureen was a religious person who attended Mass regularly and frequently prayed the rosary.

She is survived by brothers Joseph, Darrell and Dennis Lentsch of Algona; sister Donna (Tui) Lentsch of Omaha, Neb.; nephews Marshall (Andie) Lentsch (and special great-niece Izabella) of Ankeny, Iowa, Clayton Lentsch and Wayne Lentsch also of Algona; as well as extended family and friends.

Maureen was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, sister-in-law Patty Anderson and nephew Andy Lentsch.
