WHITTEMORE — A funeral mass was held for Mary Bonnstetter at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Whittemore. Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m., on Friday, July 28, 2017, at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Whittemore.
Mary died Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at the Emmetsburg Care Center, Emmetsburg. She was 103.
Mary T Bonnstetter was born on June 30, 1914, in Palo Alto County, the daughter of Robert and Ida (Grund) Ulrich. She grew up in the Mallard area and attended county school through the eighth-grade.
On March 30, 1937, Mary married Joseph Bonnstetter at the Assumption Church in Emmetsburg. The couple remained near Whittemore their married life. Mary was a housewife until Joseph’s death. After, she worked at Good Samaritan in Algona for a few years. She lived at home through her mid-nineties until she moved to the Emmetsburg Care Center in 2010.
Mary enjoyed being on the farm, cooking, gardening, crocheting and babysitting the neighbor kids. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Henry (Carol) Bonnstetter of Cylinder, Patricia (Tom Bogart) Lane of Reedville, Va.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Joseph; infant daughter, Delores; son, Ronald Bonnstetter and six siblings.
