ALGONA — Mark Alexander Pfeffer was born Jan. 9, 1951, in Algona, the son of Henry and Verna (Eischen) Pfeffer.
A funeral Mass was held at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona on Thursday, Sept. 27, with the Rev. Edward Girres and the Rev. Mr. David Penton officiating. Internment was at Calvary Cemetery in Algona.
He grew up and attended school in St. Benedict and later attended Bishop Garrigan High School and graduated in 1969. Mark went onto attend Iowa Lakes Community College before returning to the Algona area to farm.
On Nov. 20, 1982, Mark married Karen Higley at St. Benedict Catholic Church. After their marriage the couple lived in Algona. Mark continued to farm and work in hog confinement buildings. He later went to work at Winnebago Industries in Forest City and most recently was working at Hy-Vee.
Mark loved his daughter, Ashley and the time he was able to spend with her, especially going to lunch every day. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in the yard, and reading the newspaper. He was a member of St. Cecelia Parish.
Mark died Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, at his home in Algona. He was 67.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley of Algona; siblings, Norma Murphy of Algona; Craig (Barb) Pfeffer of Burt; Lynn (Dick) Miller of Algona; Luke (June) Pfeffer of Algona; Henry Pfeffer and friend, Linda Grzeslo of Algona; brothers-in-law, Allen (Ruth) Higley of Davenport; Don (Viv) Higley of Washington; Mark (Judi) Higley of Boulder, CO. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karen; infant brother, Brian Pfeffer; nieces, Melissa Pfeffer and Jill Miller and nephew, Timothy Higley.
Oakcrest Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
