BURT — Mabeline Lovstad, age 96, of Burt, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Good Samaritan Care Center in Algona. Memorial services were held on Monday at the Burt Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Judy Junkermeier officiating. Burial will be held in East Lawn Cemetery in Algona.
Mabeline Miller, the daughter of Earl and Jesse (Cox) Miller, was born on Nov. 15, 1921, in the Irvington area. She graduated from Burt Community High School and received her teaching degree at Drake University. Mabeline taught for many years in the area country schools and the public districts of Ledyard, Bancroft, and Sentral of Fenton.
On May 23, 1943, Mabeline married Raymond Lovstad in Burt. They farmed in the Burt area and raised two children, Cheryl and John. Mabeline joined the Burt Presbyterian Church where she became a deacon and was a member of the United Presbyterian Women’s Club. She was highly involved with the Order of the Eastern Star, Federated Woman’s Club, the Burt Library Board and in the past she served as a girl’s 4-H leader, County Red Cross Drive leader and social groups, U & I Circle and J.D. Club. Mabeline loved working with her flowers and traveling.
Left to cherish Mabeline’s memory are her children, Cheryl (Ray) Lichter of Burt and John Lovstad of Kansas City, Mo.; grandchildren, Lori Simpson and Richie Thilges of Fenton and Mark (Jill) Lichter of Burt; seven great grandchildren, Brooke (Cody) Baker, Kari (Westley) Berte, Ethan Simpson, Alex, Emma, Andrew and Aiden Lichter; and special great grandchildren, Casondra and Travis Thilges.
Her parents; husband; an infant daughter, Debra Jane Lovstad; and a brother, John Miller, preceded her in death.
