Lynette “Lynn” Elbert, age 81 of Algona, passed away Nov. 2, 2019, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Mass of the Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona, with the Rev. Ed Girres celebrating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Algona. The Lentz Funeral Home of Algona is assisting the family.
Lynette Karen Elbert, the daughter of Orlan and Myrtle (Johnson) Rutledge, was born Jan. 31, 1938, in Algona. She attended Algona Community Schools and graduated in 1955. On Aug. 31, 1958, Lynn was united in marriage to Henry “Hank” Elbert at St. Cecelia Catholic Church. She worked for Bishop Garrigan High School as the bookkeeper and office manager. Lynn retired Jan. 31, 2002.
Lynn enjoyed playing cards with her Crazy 8 Card Club that was started in 1960, camping, traveling, reading, and most of all, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Left to cherish Lynn’s memory are her sons, Jim (Angie) Elbert of Algona and Roger Elbert of Algona; grandchildren, Jared Elbert of Algona, Amanda Elbert of Algona, Adam (Samantha) Elbert of Algona, Emily (Chris) Porter of Chandler, Ariz., Josh (Andrea) Elbert of Algona and Matt (Ashley) Elbert of Greenfield; and nine great-grandchildren.
Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Orlan and Myrtle Rutledge; brother, Durwood Rutledge; sister, Leila Ingebritson; husband, Henry Elbert; and great-granddaughter, Lynn Elbert.
