Funeral service for Lorna Johnson was celebrated on Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at 11 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church Lotts Creek with Reverend Thomas Cowell officiating. Burial was in the St. Luke’s Lutheran Cemetery, Fairville.
Lorna Viola Johnson was born Jan. 19, 1930, in Lotts Creek Township, the daughter of Arthur and Cacilia (Schmidt) Kressin. She attended the Lotts Creek Parochial School and then Fenton High School, graduating in 1948. She went on to attend the Iowa State Teacher’s College (UNI) and became a school teacher. Lorna then taught at the Lotts Creek Township Country School for three years.
On Aug. 20, 1950, Lorna married Kenneth Johnson at Lotts Creek Immanuel Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed on Kenneth’s family farm where they raised their six children. Lorna ran a bean walking crew for many years, she also drove a school bus for 11 years and she and Kenneth delivered Winnebago’s.
Lorna loved spending time with her family and following her children and grandchildren and all of their events. She enjoyed sports, knitting, crocheting and making quilts.
Lorna died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. She was 87.
She is survived by her three daughters, Lynnette and Robin Stevens of Gothenburg, Neb.; Carol Priebe of Britt; Nancy and John Zeliff of Skidmore, Mo.; three sons, Kevin and Lori Johnson of Yutan, Neb.; Mark and Connie Johnson of Algona; Tim and Deb Johnson of Harrisburg, S.D.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; Swedish exchange student, Harriet Kjellberg and her husband, Anders Pettersson. Also surviving are a sister, Iris Decker of Lone Rock; brothers, Maynard Kressin of Lone Rock and Mike Kressin of Ventura and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents; husband, Kenneth on Nov. 27, 2001; son-in-law, Barry Priebe and two brothers, John and Jim Kressin, preceded her in death.
