Funeral services for Keith Roth were celebrated on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Whittemore with the Rev. Mark Resner officiating. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
Keith William Roth was born Jan. 30, 1956, in Bristol, S.D., the son of William and Genevieve (Dauwen) Roth. He grew up in South Dakota and attended Bristol High School. Following his schooling he began working and driving a truck hauling livestock. In 1972, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served in Viet Nam until his honorable discharge in 1975, when he returned to South Dakota.
He later moved to Emmetsburg where he was working and met his future wife. On Dec. 26, 1989, Keith married Nancy Niven. They lived in Sioux City, for a short time following their marriage before they moved to Whittemore in 1990. Together they started Roth Truck Line in 1994. In 2001, it was renamed KW Transport which they owned and operated until retirement in December of 2008. Keith later went back to driving his truck for himself and was currently driving for Crawford Trucking out of Des Moines.
Keith enjoyed time he was able to spend with his children and grandchildren, playing golf, collecting toy trucks, traveling with his wife and being in his semi-truck. He was a past member of the Whittemore American Legion.
Keith died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, near Syracuse, N.Y. He was 61.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Whittemore; children, Wade and Katie Book of Des Moines; Shannon and Jill Book of Whittemore; Connie and John Schulze of Sun Prairie, Wis.; Ashley Roth of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Berwin Roth of St. Paul, Minn.; grandchildren, Ethan, Aidan, Isabelle, Sabrina, Miranda, Kiana, Talia, Jake, Chase, Hazel and Josh; mother, Genevieve Bisgard of Waubay, S.D.; sisters, Cindi Miller of Hecla, S.D.; Brenda (Kerry) Holscher of Waubay, S.D.; Patty Wiekamp of Watertown, S.D.; and mother-in-law, Wilma Niven of Jefferson, S.D..
He was preceded in death by his father, William Roth; father-in-law, James Niven and brothers-in-law, Ronald and Robert Niven.
