Hollee Edith Krause Struecker
November 19, 1949 — August 26, 2020
Hollee Edith Krause Struecker was born Nov. 19, 1949 to Herbert and Kathryn Krause of Fenton, Iowa. She departed this earth Aug., 26, 2020, in San Diego, Calif. While attending Seneca and Sentral Community Schools, Hollee was a vibrant softball and basketball player. Continuing her education at the University of Wisconsin in LaCrosse and Iowa State University, Hollee earned her degree in elementary education, as well as married Thomas Struecker. On Nov. 27, 1970, they embarked on what would become a 50-year union.
In that half century, Hollee impacted the learning of upper elementary students at Audubon, Allison and Denison, Iowa, school districts. Moving back to the Fenton area, she raised their three children, taught Sunday school, substituted in the area and actively farmed alongside her husband in every facet.
Yet, her most joyful role seemed to be that of grandmother to her eight grandchildren, taking every opportunity to share her most treasured hobbies of cooking, gardening, crafting and playing games, especially if a ball was involved.
Celebrating Hollee’s life are her husband, Thomas Struecker; children, Michele and Keith Espe of Fenton, Nathan and Danielle Struecker of Spirit Lake, and Micaya and Dallas Wiener of San Diego, Calif.; and her beautiful grandchildren Noelle, Malea and Haidyn Wiener, Waverly, Thomas and Violet Espe, and Sydnee and Blake Struecker.
Services will be private due to current public health concerns. The family would direct those who wish to honor Hollee’s memory to do so by volunteering with or donating to the Alzheimer’s Foundation Research Center.
