A funeral Mass for Frances Weber, 107, of Wesley was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley. Visitation was Monday, July 22, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Frances Marie (Siemer) Weber was born on a farm near Wesley on Sept. 20, 1911, the daughter of August and Louisia (Hagemann) Siemer. She grew up in Wesley and attended Wesley Parochial School. Through and through, she was a farm girl. After school, Fran had various jobs on the farm. She loved raising chickens.
On Sept. 11, 1947, Fran was united in marriage with Harold Weber in Britt. They were blessed with one son. Fran and Harold shared their love for farming. They lived on the farm until moving into town in the early 1980s.
Fran had a quick wit, a ready smile and a great sense of humor. She loved her large garden and playing cards. She played in a card club until her late 90s. Fran also stayed very active. You could often find her walking around town up until her late 90s. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Fran died Friday, July 19, 2019, at the Algona Manor Care Center. She was 107.
She is survived by her son, Donald (Judy) Weber of Algona; three grandchildren, Dana (Chad) Weir of Ankeny, Dean (Karina) Weber of Warkworth, New Zeland, and Darcy (Doug) Berte of Humboldt; seven great-grandchildren, Cody, Alesha, Carson, Macy, Shayla, Louie and Lilah; one great-great-grandson, Cameron; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Harold; infant sister, Frances; three brothers, Clarence, Marvin and Leander; and two sisters, Leona and Ann.
