SWEA CITY — Ed D. Kiilsholm, son of Carl and Fidelia (Skow) Kiilsholm, was born on Jan. 13, 1953, in Fenton. He passed away peacefully at his home in Swea City on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, from a heart attack at the age of 66 years.
A Celebration of his life was held 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 4, 2019, at the United Methodist Church, 302 Cedar Ave W, Swea City with Rev. Judy DePue officiating. Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, at the church.

Ed graduated from Algona High School in 1972.
He was united in marriage to Lavida Gingrich on Dec. 17, 1972 in Burt. The couple made their home in Swea City. Throughout the years, Ed was employed at Ken's Auto as a mechanic, ran his own trucking company, Freedom Enterprises, and most recently was working for Brand FX in Swea City.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping and traveling. He had a soft spot for dogs, especially rescues.
Ed is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lavida Gingrich of Swea City; son, Justin Gingrich; sisters-in-law, Lanita (Rusty) Kardoes, LeAnn Engelbarts, Lanelda (Randy) Bollinger and Lorinda Gingrich; god-daughters, Marissa and MaKenna Crookshank; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; as well as many other family members.
Ed is preceded in death by his daughter, Marilyn Kiilsholm, parents, Carl and Fidelia Kiilsholm, mother and father-in-law, Clarence and Ann Gingrich, sister, Bonita Kiilsholm, nephew Kenny Bollinger and other extended family.
