Doris Householder

Oct. 20, 1935 — Oct. 4, 2017

 

A Celebration of Life will be held for Doris J. Householder. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 13, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fenton, with the Rev. Mark Resner officiating. Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Fenton.

Doris Jean Householder was born on Oct. 20, 1935 to Frederick and Mabel (Laabs) Mortensen, in Fenton.  Doris passed away at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona, Iowa on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017.  She was 81 years old.

Doris attended Fenton schools and graduated from Fenton High School. 

The Rev. C.C. Callahan married Doris to Darryl Householder on March 24, 1957 at the Fenton Methodist Church.

The couple lived in Lone Rock.  They moved to Omaha in 1961 and then, in 1976, they moved back to Fenton.  Doris was employed with Exceptional Opportunities for 25 years. She enjoyed researching her family genealogy for many years. 

Doris was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fenton.  She always listened to the church services on the phone when no longer able to attend.

Darryl and Doris spent many good years together and even in bad times, still believed in the strength of their love.  They shared a love of God’s magnificent creation through fishing, hunting and boating together.

Doris Jean is survived by her sons, Derek Eugene and friend Angie Baker of Fenton; Darin Lynn and wife Kathy of Des Moines; daughter, Denise Lorraine Marie Schult of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Kelsey and Christopher Johnson, Darise Giles; Sydney Householder; Robert, Cody and Kaitlyn Householder, great grandchildren Tehya Giles; Ashley Lynn Householder; step-grandchildren, Timothy, Sunset, Stoney, Gator, Prairie Gifford, Sioux Hoffner, and Kaden Baker; T.J. and Taylor Elvington; brother, Ronald Mortensen and his wife Julie of Omaha, Neb.

Doris is preceded in death by her husband Darryl Glenn; parents; Fritz and Mabel Mortensen; sons, David Glenn, Duane Allen and Daniel Lee; son in law, Darren Krumwiede; and grandson in law Dusty Giles.
