Donald Blasey, age 80 of Livermore, passed away Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020, at The Bridges at Mission in Mission, Texas. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rockwell City, Iowa, with Rev. Steve Struecker officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the AmVets Post #41 of Rockwell City. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Lentz Funeral Home in Livermore. Masks are encouraged and social distancing practices being followed. Services for Don will be livestreamed on the Lentz Funeral Home Facebook page.
Donald Eugene Blasey, the son of Durl Delos and Ethel Mae (Anderson) Blasey, was born Feb. 10, 1940, in Rockwell City, Iowa. Don served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1964. He worked as a truck driver for Hunt Truckline. On March 20, 2010, Don was united in marriage with Elaine Bruellman Wichtendahl in Harlingen, Texas. Don was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Livermore American Legion. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, dancing, woodworking and coin collecting.
Left to cherish Don’s memory are his wife of 10 years, Elaine; children, Sherri Jonasz of Orlando, Fla., Steven (June) Blasey of Clarksville, Tenn., and Stacey (Donnie) Ellis of Puyallup, Wash.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jim (Jennie) Blasey of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers David, Robert and Dennis Blasey.
