Diann K. Miller
Diann K. Miller, 69, Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, March 7, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City. Visitation was Tuesday, March 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with the funeral at 7 p.m. Visitation with a lunch was held Thursday, March 14 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Burt Presbyterian church. Graveside services are Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Burt Cemetery with a memorial service at 3 p.m. at the Burt Presbyterian church. A memorial fund has been established for T.T.T., Chapter J of Wayland.
Diann Kae Miller was born June 23, 1949, in Burt, the daughter of John Monroe and Betty Jean (Batt) Miller. She graduated from Burt High School in 1967, attained an associate of arts degree in education from Iowa Lakes Community College in 1969, graduated from Mankato State College in 1971 with a bachelor of science degree in education and a master’s in education in 1976. Diann taught for 30 years at WACO Community School District until her retirement.
Since 1985 she was a member of the T.T.T., Chapter J where she held many offices, including state president. She enjoyed counted cross stitch embroidery, traveling and spending time with family and friends, especially her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Diann also loved to help send girls to Camp Wyoming through T.T.T. and chaperoning girls basketball trips for WACO.
Survivors include two sisters, Donna (Elmer) Alt and Darlene (Pat) Prothman, both of Algona; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Deb Miller of Algona.
Preceding Diann in death were her parents and one brother, Dennis Miller.
