David Camp, age 70 of Bancroft, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Memorial services were Tuesday, Feb. 19, at First Lutheran Church, Algona, with the Rev. David Grindberg officiating. The VFW Post #2541 and the Haag-Turner American Legion Post #90 of Algona conducted military rites.
David Alfred Camp, the son of James Alfred and Lois Margarite (Gardner) Camp, was born July 26, 1948, in Algona. He graduated from Algona High School in 1967. David served in the U.S. Air Force as a jet mechanic from 1967 to 1971. During his service, he was stationed in Japan. On March 9, 1968, David married Rebecca Ray Heller at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. They later divorced. David enjoyed Westerns, classic cars, collecting Corvettes, political debates and reading. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish David’s memory are his children, Kimberly Grandgenett and her husband, Jeff, of Algona; Amy Camp and her partner, Willie, of Spirit Lake; and Klint Camp and his partner, Stacy, of Spirit Lake; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald Camp of Florida, Donald Camp of Utah and Curtis Camp of Utah; and sisters, Mary Welp of Minnesota and Donna Camp of Iowa. His parents and a brother, Alan Camp, preceded him in death.
