Beverly Marie Wichtendahl, age 87, of Council Bluffs, passed away Feb. 28, 2019, at Risen Son Nursing Home in Council Bluffs.
Beverly was born Oct. 28, 1931 in Bancroft, to the late Samuel and Edna (Rickert) Shipler. She graduated from Bancroft High School in 1949. Beverly married Harlan G. Wichtendahl on Feb. 19, 1950 ,in Algona. They were blessed with three children, Larry, Al and Kim.
Beverly worked as a secretary for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department and then did exterior painting and interior staining for many years. She loved cooking and gardening and was known for her homemade breads. Beverly was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs.
In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan G. Wichtendahl on April 19, 2012; son-in-law, Roger Goth; and brother, Bob Shipler. Beverly is survived by her daughter, Kim Goth, of Thornton, Colo.; sons, Larry Wichtendahl of Lincoln, Neb., Al (Kathy) Wichtendahl of Spokane, Wash.; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.
Prayer service was held Monday, March 4, at 5 p.m. followed by visitation with the family until 7 p.m. at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Graveside service was Tuesday, March 5, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Whittemore. A lunch followed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
