Hallie Anne Henderson

Clayton and Molly Henderson of Algona announce the birth of their daughter, Hallie Anne, on Nov. 27, 2023, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center.

Hallie is welcomed home by a sister, Hayden.

Maternal grandparents are Steve and Jill Cook of Algona. Paternal grandparents are Tracey Henderson of Emmetsburg and Steve Henderson of Emmetsburg

Great grandmother is Carolyn Henderson of Emmetsburg.

 

November euchre results in Algona

ALGONA—Euchre results for Nov. 28 in Algona were first place - Wayne and Elaine Patterson, 83; second place - Chuck Stetzel and Eddie Rahe, 78; third place - Joe and Jane Lickteig, 67; and most loners - Landon Ludwig, 5. Door prize winner was Chuck Stetzel.

Nativity scene open seven days a week in December

ALGONA—The Algona Nativity Scene located in a building on the Kossuth County Fairgrounds is open Monday through Saturday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. through Dec. 31. After December, small groups by appointment can be made by calling 515-295-7241.

PLAEA offers no cost audiology services to students

The Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency (AEA) has emerged as a key partner for local school districts, offering audiology testing services at no cost to students from birth to graduation.

“Our audiology services represent one way we are working to ensure students across our service area have the resources and support they need to truly thrive in the classroom,” said Dr. Dan Mart, PLAEA Chief Administrator.

Iowa Lakes receives $240,000 grant for CDL Training Program

 

Governor Kim Reynolds recently unveiled the recipients of the CDL Infrastructure Grants, and Iowa Lakes Community College was among the beneficiaries. The grants, totaling $4.84 million, have been awarded to 10 of Iowa’s esteemed community colleges. These funds will facilitate the acquisition of new equipment and the establishment or renovation of driver training facilities. These grants are estimated to increase annual program participation by 1,305 individuals collectively.

Hospice nurses provide care during some of life’s toughest moments

 

Coping with terminal illness can be challenging, even for those people with immense support systems behind them. At some point in one’s care plan, it may be recommended to transition from actively treating or trying to cure a condition to making the person more comfortable. This is when hospice steps in.

‘TIS THE SEASON TO DRIVE SOBER

DES MOINES—It’s hard to have a happy holiday if you’re arrested for drunk driving. The Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau (GTSB) is partnering with law enforcement across Iowa to urge drivers to think twice before drinking and driving. Dec. 15 – Jan. 1, 2024, drivers will see officers working on a special high-visibility enforcement campaign to spread the message about the dangers of drunk driving.

Fenton’s Santa Day

Fenton’s Santa Day is planned for Saturday, Dec. 9 beginning at 1 p.m. at the Legion building in Fenton. Santa will arrive by fire truck. Activities will include crafts, refreshments, kid’s drawing for sleds, library reading of memorial donations and musical entertainment. The Fenton Library’s holiday open house will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with cinnamon rolls, cider and door prizes for kids and adults.

 

Live Greeting Card Windows

Theresa DeLange offers a cookie to youngster Blayke Prothman during the live greeting card windows event Monday night, Nov. 27 in downtown Algona. Standing next to DeLange is Sandy Peterson. The ladies were volunteers with the Active Seniors of Algona.

The annual live greeting card windows event is sponsored by the Algona Area Chamber of Commerce.

 

Holiday Fun

Even though it was a cold evening for the live greeting card windows event Monday in downtown Algona there was plenty of holiday fun happening.
