The Burt Fire Department will host bingo on Friday, January 20 at the Burt Activity Complex. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 6:30 p.m.

ALGONA—The Algona law firm of Peterson & Lipps is welcoming the addition of two local lawyers to its office at 6 East State Street. Attorney Thomas Lipps announces that lawyers David Siegrist and Brian Jones will join him at the firm’s Algona office.

H & R Block celebrates all day long

 

H & R Block held a chamber coffee at their office last Friday, January 13 to kick off the tax season before it gets too busy. They continued the celebration all day long with an open house and at 5 p.m. Dee Randall presented a check to tax professional Linda Adams who recently passed the three tests required to become an enrolled agent, a special designation to practice B4 IRS. This week’s chamber coffee will be held at Innovations at 9:30 a.m.

ALGONA—A story time exposition event featuring four of the “best storytellers” in town is set for Saturday, January 21 at 1:30 p.m. at the Algona Senior Center. The public is invited to attend.

DUBUQUE—Emma Fogarty of Algona earned dean’s list status for the 2022 fall semester at Loras College in Dubuque. A student must earn a 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours to be recognized on the dean’s list at Loras College.

Zenith Allan Vote

Andy Vote and Cassandra Meier of Renwick announce the birth of their son, Zenith Allan, on January 10, 2023, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center. He weighed 7 pounds, 9.5 ounces and was 19.5 inches long.

Zenith is welcomed home by siblings Jackson, Lokeigh and Orian.

Andy is employed at Hogslat Retail. Cassandra is employed at Snap-on.

Happy 150th Birthday Wesley

A large crowd gathered to view the more than 30 men who participated in the beard contest at Wesley’s 150th celebration over Fourth of July weekend.

Children were called up to the front to judge the “Most like Santa” category won by Donald Kirsch.

Ribbon cutting at Repeat Boutique

A ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of the new Repeat Boutique in Algona was held on Friday, January 6 during the Algona Area Chamber of Commerce Coffee. Repeat Boutique moved to its new location in the Eastland Plaza on Highway 18. The new store opened on January 2. Store owner Stacy Besch (holding the plaque) introduced the new manager, Karla Grandgenett (holding the scissors), as well as other staff members.

KRHC welcomes first baby of 2023

 

 

ALGONA—Kossuth Regional Health Center welcomed its first baby of the New Year on January 5, 2023. Oaklee Ann Nielsen was born weighing 6 pounds, 14 ounces  and measured 18.5 inches long.

Proud parents are Michael and Chloe Nielsen of Forest City. The new baby girl is welcomed by maternal grandparents David and Tami Goodale of Osage and paternal grandparents Howard Nielsen of Forest City and Val Nielsen of Leland.

East Fork 4-H Club

 

 

The Lu Verne East Fork 4-H Club has had a busy winter working on projects for their communities. They made winter crafts and ornaments for Homestead Assisted Living and they decorated the historic corner lot where the railway car sits. Submitted photos
