The North Union Elementary in Fenton welcomed a "new" principal for the day on March 1. Harrison Anderson, a first grader at North Union, has raised nearly $2,000 the past two years for The American Heart Association during the Kids Heart Challenge held in February.

Anderson received the honor of being the principal, working in place of Mrs. Katie Black for the day.

North Union Elementary in Fenton is celebrating March Reading Month with the theme, Camp Read-A-Lot. Special events throughout the month include Principal Black reading in classrooms, Book Buddy reading with other classrooms, Flashlight Friday, Reading with a Loved One, Pajama Reading and visits to the Fenton Public Library.

ALGONA—Deitering Bros., Inc. together with AGCO Corporation participated in the AGCO dealers' FFA Chapter Grant Program through the National FFA Foundation for an opportunity to recognize and support local FFA chapters. They selected the Algona FFA chapter to be their recipient.

ALGONA—Following a public hearing, the Algona Municipal Board of Trustees approved an amendment to the Lehigh-Webster Transmission and Webster Terminals Facilities and Operating Agreement to remove Algona and others that sold their shares from the agreement.

KOSSUTH COUNTY—The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will be conducting prescribed burns this spring on wildlife management areas managed by the Iowa DNR’s Prairie Lakes Wildlife Unit in Clay, Palo Alto, Emmet and Kossuth Counties.

ALGONA—The Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation (IALF) has awarded 155 grants to schools throughout Iowa to support the integration of agriculture into classroom instruction or after school programs with an academic focus.

Amy Welp, a teacher at Bertha Godfrey School, received up to $250 to integrate agriculture into their science or language arts lessons and conduct Agriculture in the Classroom type projects.

DES MOINES—USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will conduct its biannual Agricultural Labor Survey in April. The survey will collect information about hired labor from more than 850 Iowa farmers.

NASS will publish the data May 24 in the Farm Labor report available on the NASS website at nass.usda.gov/Publications. Survey recipients who do not respond by April 19 may be contacted by NASS to arrange an interview.
