Algona will borrow to fix streets
ALGONA — City staff continue to develop a scenario that will provide general obligation bonds to re-construct Algona city streets.
“The scenarios are based on guidelines we have received from the Algona City Council,” said Curt Wiseman, Algona city administrator. “They would not like a drastic tax increase, but the council members want to find a way to put together major street re-construction projects. We are hearing from citizens who want the city to turn its focus towards the streets.”
City staff has provided different bonding scenarios to the Algona City Council. The council has not decided how to proceed with street projects.
