Letters to the Editor

Read this week's letters to the editor in the July 9 edition of the Kossuth County Advance:
Do you control your land?
To the editor:
The Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) is proposing the use of eminent domain with wind and solar energy. Eminent domain is the right of a government to expropriate private property for public use. This means even if you do not give a wind developer or utility company access to your land, the IUB could (according to this proposal) still run transmission lines through your property because they claim wind energy is a “public utility.” See the rest in our print edition.

Appreciated letter writer’s sentiment
I appreciated Becky Grandgenett’s letter, “Maybe we should be singing this,” especially the part: “let it begin with me.” Let it begin with me! See the rest in our print edition.

Right to know, a right to choose
This is in response to Brad Hicks’ On the Side column, “Free to not know,” in last week’s Advance: You ask what rights we have to all of the pertinent information to which we are entitled to if we are exposed to COVID-19. See the rest in our print edition.

Analyze, act accordingly
To the editor:
I have been reading through the Bible in chronological order for years and just recently I have kept track of the times where homosexual activity is mentioned. The very first command God gave was to Adam and Eve, saying be fruitful and multiply and fill the Earth. How can homosexuality fill that first command God gave? See the rest in our print edition.
