Glass artist coming to Algona
Stinson Prairie Arts Council’s mission is to encourage and promote the awareness, appreciation, practice and performance of the arts in the region. Last year, we offered over a dozen different programs ranging from a concert by Tina Haase Findley to art shows by local artists and photographers. As 2020 rolled in, so did the virus, and many of our art shows and activities were canceled.
When the city of Algona decided to have the annual Founders’ Day Celebration, the Arts Council decided to keep the art show on the Carnegie lawn for 2020. A new vendor this year is Art Ciccotti from Ames. Described as organic in appearance, his work is inspired by his early years playing in the tide pools of Cabrillo Beach in California. A second-generation Italian-American, born in 1952 in New Jersey, Ciccotti grew up in southern California before moving to Iowa in 1979.
