AMU workers on Derecho: 'It looked like a war zone'
ALGONA—When crews from Algona Municipal Utilities rolled into Ames and Ogden, there was no question – they had their work cut out for them to help the communities get back up and running after a devastating derecho storm socked the area.
“We arrived in Ogden coming from the west and the south. It looked like a war zone,” said Rod Vitzthum, AMU electric line superintendent. “Many trees were down, power lines and poles broke off.”
